On 7 March 1959 Pierre Monteux and the New York Philharmonic gave a concert to mark Maurice Ravel's 84th birthday featuring a number of works by the composer: Le tombeau de Couperin, Rapsodie espagnole and the two suites from Daphnis et Chloé.
Today we mark the 150th birthdays of both Ravel and Monteux with this fabulous release in superb sound quality, which also features a solo performance from violinist Joseph Szigeti playing Berlioz.
And of course we're marking Ravel's birthday week with a special 20% automatic discount on all his recordings at Pristine.
