This week at Pristine we bring you a very French take on Bizet's Carmen, in a recording made in Paris in 1959 under the baton of Pierre-Michel Le Conte with the choirs and orchestra of the Concerts of Paris.
Made right at the end of the mono era, it's presented here in significantly improved Ambient Stereo XR sound that greatly complements the voices of the two main soloists, the Spanish mezzo-soprano Consuelo Rubio and the French-Canadian lyric tenor Léopold Simoneau.
We also mark the 42nd anniversary this week of the death of British pianist Clifford Curzon in 1982 with a special discount offer on all his recordings.
