BRITTEN Two World Premières

This week we bring you two world première recordings of music by Benjamin Britten. The first, his acclaimed short opera Noye's Fludde, was recorded at the world première in 1958, with Owen Brannigan in the title role of Noah and Charles Mackerras at the podium. This may well be the recording's first public appearance.

Also here we have the first recording of one of Britten's best loved works, his Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge, commissioned by Boyd Neel for his String Orchestra in 1937, recorded by them the following year for Decca and lovingly restored and XR remastered here in Ambient Stereo.
